our loader design provides some interesting features that make it simple to build, operate and maintain.

 * simple design means that it can easily be adapted to many different types of tractors and even scaled up for use on larger tractors beyond the compact category. mounting points include a simple sub frame member under the tractor and diagonal forward braces that transfer stress to the nose of the tractor.

 * integral oil reservoir within the right side tower eliminates the need to locate and plumb an external tank somewhere on the tractor. both towers can be connected by flexible hose for additonal oil reservoir volume.

 * the loader can either use a belt driven pump from your existing engine PTO location, or your on-board hydraulics can be used if available.

 * we specify using all 2" bore cylinders which are the most economical to buy , very strong and allow you to run less system pressure to achieve the same lifting power as smaller bore cylinders - and prolong the life of your internal seals.

 * we specify using a 1 quart spin-on oil strainer unit on the suction line to the pump to strain out impurities before they can do damage. a small gate valve ahead of the strainer shuts off flow from the reservoir for clean and easy filter changes.

 * there is a joystick control option for simplified operation, or a conventional 2 lever control valve can be used to reduce cost.

 * overall weight of the loader is 325lbs

 * estimated cost to build is $1000 - $1300 complete with steel and hydraulics depending on your particular tractor and if you are using an on-board hydraulic system.

 * as mentioned on the home page, lifting capacity with a pair of 2" bore cylinders is well over 500lbs depending on your system pressure.

 * our design has a bolt-on bucket that lets you easily change over to pallet forks or a snow blade.

 * lift height under a level bucket is 73" on the Garden Tractors and even more on the compact tractors.

 * bucket width on the plans is 42" however you may adjust this anywhere from 36" to 54" and beyond depending on your particular tractor. a good rule to follow is to go a few inches wider than the rear track of your machine.

 * bucket capacity on the 42" wide bucket is .21 cubic yards.

 * bucket rolldown angle at full lift is 50 degrees.
